MATEM MARŞI

Çan çalmıyoruz. Çan çalmıyoruz. Yok salâ veren! Giden o biten bir şarkı değildir...

O büyük bir ışık gibi döğüştü. Kasketli bir güneş halinde düştü.

Çan çalmıyoruz. Çan çalmıyoruz. Yok salâ veren! Bu giden bir biten şarkı değildir...

Nazım Hikmet, 1932

Kairos wants to make a reference to the time being including all the possible opportunities that time offers. The work manifests an articulation of an existing poem by Nazım Hikmet Ran, first explicitly modernist poet who spent a life between prison and exile because of his political thoughts and died in Moscow. The red ink refers to the dilemma of life and politics whereas the bird motifs from Ural mountains depict the voices to the potential sound of the poetic space that the piece creates in the ways which the audiences read in their own language, mindsets and emotional clouds. Focusing on the act of embracing and touching, the work, which includes mimics referring to the 6th Ural Industrial Biennial, tries to communicate with the audience in a rhythmic form where clouds touch poetry and poetry touch birds.
